Wendy Reiter, MSEd has recently retired from the Horace Mann School in NY after a 35-year career as Director of Guidance and Counseling in the Middle Division. In 2018, she created a new initiative for the prestigious prep school, a Parent Institute, which would later form the basis for the valuable consulting work she does for both Horace Mann and other schools while a full-time resident of Utah. She continues to consult with Horace Mann as Director of the Parent Institute.

Through Wendy’s educational consulting service, she shares her many professional years providing services and programs to school systems and independent schools nationwide. In addition, Wendy offers a unique and comprehensive understanding of independent day schools and has a deep perspective of specific programs that maximize the educational experience for students, families, faculty, and administration.

Wendy’s current passion in her role as an educational consultant is collaborating with school administrators and faculty to create customized programs to benefit and enhance the work and quality of life of  students, faculty and families. Wendy has a deep understanding of how to successfully create an environment that supports adolescent development. This developmental advisory model  empowers faculty to forge a special relationship with a small group of advisees over a period of years. This special relationship enriches not just the lives of its students, but also provides unique opportunities for a school’s faculty to feel gratified professionally. Wendy has extensive experience providing faculty with professional development opportunities that give them specific skills to strengthen their advisory role; providing a greater sense of confidence and effectiveness in their relationships with students and parents.

In addition to Wendy’s creation of exceptional advisory programs that maximize the school experience, she has years of expertise creating meaningful mentor programs that tap into high school students’ desire to forge relationships with younger students. These unforgettable lifetime alliances instill confidence in teens and provides them with critical life skills, including communication, interpersonal relationships, leadership, and organization.

Wendy is available to assist schools and organizations in designing parent educational experiences with the goal of instilling parent awareness and knowledge of their children’s growth and development. By providing these enriching experiences, a school’s environment is greatly enhanced by offering parents a parallel educational experience to their child’s academic program. Such programs foster more effective parenting and create a stronger school community with more engaged parents.

“Wendy is tour de force behind the Parent Institute. Wendy’s commitment to include teamwork, learning new things, sociability, erudition, and strong communication skills are incredible.”
